Usyk leaves Wembley roaring, destroys Dubois in five rounds

Oleksandr Usyk confirmed his dominance as the world’s top heavyweight boxer with a fifth-round knockout victory over Daniel Dubois in their undisputed world title clash at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The Ukrainian boxer, now 38, extended his undefeated professional record to 24 wins and added Dubois’ IBF belt to his WBA, WBC, and WBO titles.
Usyk controlled the fight from the opening bell and sent Dubois to the canvas early in the fifth round before sealing the victory with a powerful left hook.
The British fighter could not beat the count, with the fight ending just 1 minute and 52 seconds into the round.

This marked Usyk’s second win over Dubois, having previously defeated him in the ninth round of a 2023 bout in Krakow, Poland, where Dubois was penalized for a low blow in the fifth round.
Lennox Lewis, the last British boxer to hold the undisputed title back in 1999, had predicted that Dubois would show vast improvement.
However, Usyk, cheered on by thousands of Ukrainian fans in the 90,000-capacity Wembley crowd, delivered a clinical and one-sided performance.
Speaking to DAZN after the bout, Usyk said, “38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only start! I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ, my team, and Wembley, thank you so much! This is for the people.”
When asked about his next move, Usyk said he was not in a hurry to decide.
“Nothing is next. It’s enough, next, I don’t know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest.”
Asked about possible opponents, he added, “Maybe it’s Tyson Fury. Maybe we have three choices: Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. Listen, I cannot now say because I want to go back home.”
Dubois, 27, graciously accepted defeat and vowed to bounce back.

“I have to commend him (Usyk) on the performance. I gave everything I had. Take no credit away from that man. I’ll be back.”
