UN Warns of Famine as death toll in Gaza rises to 60,034

Health officials in Gaza have reported that the death toll from the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has reached 60,034, with the humanitarian situation worsening due to extreme hunger and limited access to aid.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Hamas-run health ministry said that 145,870 people have also been injured since the conflict began.
The ministry added that many more victims are believed to be trapped under rubble or lying in the open but remain unreachable due to the continuous fighting.
A United Nations-backed report by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) revealed that more than one in three residents of Gaza are now enduring days without food.
The IPC described the situation as the “worst-case scenario of famine,” stressing that only an immediate ceasefire and large-scale humanitarian access could prevent further deaths and “catastrophic human suffering.”
On Thursday, major international media outlets, BBC News, AFP, AP, and Reuters, issued a joint statement warning that journalists in Gaza were facing starvation and struggling to feed their families.
The worsening food shortage, they said, has hit all sectors, including media workers.
The crisis was further intensified earlier this year when Israel restricted the entry of essential supplies into Gaza, aiming to put pressure on Hamas to release hostages.
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump said he is trying to “get things straightened out” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Monday, he noted that children in Gaza “look very hungry,” highlighting the scale of the crisis.

Despite accusations of blockade, Israel has denied withholding aid and insisted that it is facilitating the entry of humanitarian supplies into Gaza.
