Tinubu names Babangida, 52 others in major federal appointment shake-up

President Bola Tinubu has named Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture in a fresh wave of appointments across federal agencies.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, the Bank of Agriculture has been restructured, with Babangida, 53, selected to steer the institution into a new operational phase.
Babangida holds a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Switzerland.

He also completed an executive programme on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
In addition to Babangida’s appointment, the President approved the selection of several others for key leadership roles.
The list includes:
Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna State) as Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority
Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano State) as Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council
Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano State) as Chairman, Standard Organisation of Nigeria
Sanusi Musa (SAN) (Kano State) as Chairman, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution
Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State) as Director General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa
Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara State) as Director General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations
Mrs Tomi Somefun (Oyo State) as Managing Director, National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission

While the statement did not specify when the new appointees will assume office, it emphasized that the appointments align with the President’s goal of revitalizing strategic federal agencies for national development.
