National shock as Ghana loses top ministers in fatal Helicopter crash

Two Ghanaian ministers, Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, have lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash in the Ashanti region, Daily Watch Nigeria reports.
The crash, which occurred on Wednesday, also claimed the lives of six others onboard.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Julius Debrah, confirmed the fatalities in a video statement.
Earlier, the Ghana Armed Forces had raised concerns after losing contact with a Z9 helicopter en route from Accra to Obuasi, a mining town in the southern part of the country.
The ill-fated aircraft was carrying five passengers and three crew members at the time.
In honour of the deceased, Debrah announced that Ghana’s national flags would be flown at half-mast until further notice.
