Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, famously known as KWAM1, has issued an unreserved apology following the incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The singer was involved in a scuffle after a flight attendant suspected he was drinking alcohol from a flask while preparing to board a ValueJet flight, which led to the delay of the plane and a subsequent six-month flying ban imposed on him.

In a statement released on Friday, KWAM1 expressed deep regret to all parties affected and denied allegations that the flask contained alcohol, clarifying it held only water.

He explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration and was advised by his doctor to stay hydrated, which is why he always carries a water flask.

He stressed that the flask was empty during two security checks and was only filled with water in the lounge before heading to the tarmac, a fact verifiable by CCTV footage.

KWAM1 said, “I had not even boarded the plane, let alone being deboarded.”

He acknowledged the concerns the incident caused and apologized sincerely for any disruption, insisting it was never his intention to break aviation rules or cause disturbance.

The musician emphasized his patriotism and loyalty to Nigeria, highlighting his long-standing role as a global ambassador of Nigerian music and culture, and affirmed that he would never do anything to tarnish his or the country’s reputation.
