Gov Zulum reshuffles cabinet, names new heads for key ministries

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has relieved two commissioners of their duties as part of efforts to revitalise governance and improve service delivery in the state.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the commissioners affected by the cabinet reshuffle are Engr. Emat Kois of the Ministry of Environment and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim of Intergovernmental and Special Duties.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours.

In their place, he announced the appointment of Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as replacements.

In a related development, Zulum approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.

A seasoned academic and Professor of Educational Psychology, Balami hails from Hawul in southern Borno.

Balami began his public service career with the Borno State Ministry of Education from 1984 to 1988 before joining the University of Maiduguri, where he rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2014.

He is a member of various professional bodies and has contributed extensively to academic literature as a lead or co-author.

The governor congratulated Professor Balami and tasked him with applying his decades of experience in both academic and administrative roles to raise the standard of secondary education in Borno State.

All new appointments, according to the statement, have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
