FRSC leverages NVIS portal to tackle vehicle theft, recovers 35 Cars

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered 35 stolen vehicles across Nigeria within the first six months of 2025, reaffirming its commitment to national security and public safety through the use of advanced technology.
This success was made possible by the deployment of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal, an intelligence-based, data-driven platform central to combating vehicle-related crimes.

The stolen vehicles recovered include 24 Toyota vehicles, five Lexus, two Mercedes-Benz, one Ford Focus, one Daihatsu, one Pontiac Vibe, and one Toyota Sienna.
These vehicles had been stolen through armed robbery, abduction, and fraudulent tactics.
The Corps collaborated with other security agencies and state governments to trace and retrieve the vehicles from various locations across the country.
The Corps Marshal, visibly pleased with the swift response and effectiveness of FRSC personnel, praised the effort as a strong example of the power of inter-agency collaboration and the integration of technology in modern policing.
He reiterated that while FRSC remains focused on road safety, it also plays a vital role in national security by ensuring effective vehicle verification and traceability.
He described the recoveries as a silent but significant victory in the fight against criminals using stolen vehicles to undermine public safety.
Nigerians were urged to remain supportive and confident in the agency’s operations.

The FRSC encouraged the public to use the NVIS portal to verify vehicle details before making any purchases and to report any suspicious vehicle registrations.
The Corps also reminded citizens that number plate verification can be done via the FRSC Mobile App or by visiting www.frsc.gov.ng.
