In a historic move aimed at strengthening staff morale and institutional efficiency, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced one of the most expansive promotion exercises in its history, with over 2,000 officers and marshals currently undergoing elevation processes across the nation.

This ongoing exercise spans all sectors of the Corps and includes personnel vying for various ranks, from Chief Route Commander to Assistant Route Commander and several marshal cadres.

Far from being a routine exercise, the promotion drive reflects the Corps’ renewed commitment to welfare, professionalism, and institutional reform under the leadership of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed.

Since assuming office, the Corps Marshal has prioritised the welfare of FRSC personnel, recognising its central role in the Corps’ mandate of improving road safety and reducing fatalities on Nigeria’s highways.

He has consistently advocated for timely, merit-based promotions as a tool to reward hard work, integrity, and dedication.

This latest promotion process has been described as transparent and inclusive, covering all 12 Zonal Commands and ensuring eligible staff are fairly assessed.

Already, the initiative has reignited enthusiasm and hope among FRSC officers, with many welcoming it as a “new dawn” for the Corps.

In addition to promotions, the Corps Marshal has introduced several forward-thinking welfare measures, including enhanced training, better working and living conditions, transparent performance assessments, and a new housing initiative.

These reforms, he said, are designed to produce a professional, motivated, and people-oriented organisation capable of delivering world-class road safety services in line with global standards.

During a briefing with qualified personnel, the Corps Marshal assured them that this promotion drive marks only the beginning of a broader agenda to reposition the FRSC for excellence.

As the exercise nears completion, expectations are high for a stronger and more effective Corps ready to confront modern traffic challenges.

For many within the organisation, this reform signals more than career advancement, it reaffirms their value, boosts morale, and underscores a leadership that is responsive, visionary, and committed to rewarding diligence.
