Fans worldwide grieve as food network icon Anne Burrell passes

Popular Food Network personality and celebrated chef Anne Burrell has died by suicide, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed.

The 55-year-old was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Brooklyn apartment last month.

According to the autopsy report released on Thursday, Burrell died from acute intoxication caused by a mix of medications and alcohol.

The New York Police Department disclosed that officers responded to a distress call at her residence, where she was later pronounced dead by emergency medical services.

Burrell was widely admired for her dynamic presence on the Food Network, where she starred in popular shows such as Worst Cooks in America, Iron Chef America, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

Her vibrant personality and culinary expertise made her a household name and endeared her to millions of viewers around the world.

In a moving tribute, Burrell’s family described her as someone whose “light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world,” adding, “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

The Food Network also paid homage to the late chef in a statement, calling her a “remarkable person and culinary talent” who was passionate about teaching, competing, and celebrating the joy of food.

“Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends, and fans during this time of tremendous loss,” the statement read.

Burrell’s passing has left a deep void in the culinary and entertainment communities, where she will be remembered for her energy, kindness, and the inspiration she brought into kitchens around the globe.
