Former Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, has openly criticised Enyimba FC for allegedly owing him and his teammates match bonuses from the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The veteran striker, who currently features for the Aba-based club, made the claims in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

He expressed frustration over the club’s failure to pay bonuses despite the season ending in May.

“Because I get money, I should not ask for the one I worked for? Please pay me and the players last season’s match bonuses. @EnyimbaFC, the season ended in May, till now nothing. Next season will start next month,” Ideye wrote.

He stressed that personal financial status should not prevent clubs from fulfilling their contractual obligations to players, adding that timely payments are essential for morale and financial stability.

The 35-year-old also recently revealed that players were given only ₦7,000 daily for meals throughout the 2024/2025 NPFL season, a disclosure that stirred public outcry among fans and football stakeholders.

Enyimba FC, regarded as one of Nigeria’s most decorated football clubs, is yet to issue an official statement in response to the allegations.
