Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have arrived back in the country to a warm reception following their remarkable fifth consecutive title win at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday aboard two chartered flights carrying both players and officials.

Welcoming them were dignitaries from the National Sports Commission, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, members of the Association of Nigerian Women in Sports, and excited supporters who gathered to celebrate the historic feat.

D’Tigress clinched the title by defeating Mali 78–64 in the final held on Sunday night at the Palais des Sports de Treichville.

The victory not only sealed their seventh AfroBasket crown but also extended their remarkable winning streak in the competition to 29 consecutive games, a dominant run that began in 2015.
