Mohammed Yisa Gana, a former Nigerian ambassador to Japan and close associate of ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a letter dated July 16, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman in Kpada Ward II, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, Gana expressed gratitude to the party for the various opportunities it had given him to serve his local government, state, and the nation at large.

He, however, noted that the time had come to move forward in pursuit of greater progress for his people and the country.

“Please be informed that, effective from today, July 16, 2025, I wish to resign my membership from the PDP,” the letter stated.

“The decision to resign my membership did not come easy for me, especially considering the opportunities the party had provided me to represent my local government, state, and Nigeria at different levels, for which I am grateful.”

Gana confirmed that he is now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying he looks forward to contributing meaningfully to the party’s vision.

“As I leave the PDP, I am stepping into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as my new party. I wish the PDP all the best going forward,” he added.

His exit comes shortly after Saraki, who chairs the PDP’s reconciliation and convention committee, warned that the party may witness further high-profile defections if it fails to urgently resolve its internal crisis.
