Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Director-General of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Council, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing a loss of the core values and principles that once defined the party.

His resignation was made public through a letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 5 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Andrew Esemuede.

In the letter, Iduoriyekemwen expressed deep appreciation for the role the PDP played in his political and personal development but said current developments at both state and national levels have made it impossible for him to continue as a member.

“This is a painstaking decision for me, as the PDP has played a vital role in my political journey and personal development.”

“For this, I remain deeply grateful and will always cherish the platform the party provided me,” he wrote.

He pointed out that the party no longer aligns with the vision of its founding fathers, stating, “The values and principles that once defined the PDP… appear to have been eroded.”

“What we see today no longer aligns with the vision they had for a truly democratic, inclusive, and people-centred political party.”

Iduoriyekemwen emphasized that his decision was not borne out of anger or made in haste but followed deep reflection.

“This is not a decision made out of anger or haste, but one rooted in deep reflection and a sincere desire to preserve my personal values and integrity.”

He said he now plans to focus on his family and business engagements.

“I have decided to resign my membership of the party to enable me to concentrate fully on my family and business engagements.”

Concluding his letter, he thanked the party leadership and members of his ward for their support over the years and wished the PDP success in its future endeavours.
