Amaechi, Remi Tinubu, Lawan, other top Nigerian leaders storm Daura for Buhari’s burial

A wave of high-profile mourners has arrived in Daura, Katsina State, to pay their final respects to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82 after a brief illness.
The ancient town is witnessing heavy traffic as prominent Nigerian leaders, politicians, and officials make their way into the community ahead of the burial rites.
Among those who arrived early in Daura are former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami, and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Also present are ex-PDP National Chairman and former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.
Other notable dignitaries include former Sokoto State Governors Aliyu Wammako and Aminu Tambuwal, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari, former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, and former Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen.
The late President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a civilian president from 2015 to 2023, is set to be buried in his hometown in accordance with Islamic rites. Special funeral prayers will hold at the Central Mosque in Daura before his remains are laid to rest.
