Ademola Lookman agrees terms with Inter as transfer talks progresses

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is edging closer to a high-profile move from Atalanta to Inter Milan, after reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the Serie A giants who have tabled a €40m offer for his services.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan have made Lookman a top priority this summer and are ready to intensify talks with Atalanta, despite the Bergamo-based club’s €50m valuation.
“Inter are serious about Lookman, agreement with the player, €40m ready for Atalanta,” Di Marzio reported, indicating Inter’s strong desire to complete the deal swiftly.
Lookman, whose current contract with Atalanta runs until 2027, is said to be open to the move, having reportedly given his approval to the transfer.
Talks between both clubs are ongoing, with Inter hoping that Atalanta will honour what is believed to be a prior promise to allow the Nigerian leave this summer should a suitable offer arrive.
Despite Atalanta’s insistence on a €50m fee, Inter Milan are standing firm on their €40m proposal and are not willing to increase it.
Their readiness to pursue the deal regardless of any pending departures highlights how highly the club’s hierarchy, including new manager Christian Chivu, rate the 27-year-old winger.
Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout players in the 2024–25 season, scoring 15 goals and playing a crucial role in their UEFA Europa League triumph.
His consistent form has made him a hot target for top clubs across Europe, including Napoli and Arsenal, though Inter now appear to be leading the race.
Chivu, who recently took over from Simone Inzaghi, is said to admire Lookman’s versatility.

The Nigerian international can operate on either wing or as a support striker, making him a perfect fit alongside Inter’s existing attacking talents such as Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.
While Inter remain hopeful of concluding the deal quickly, they are prepared to shift focus to other targets, like Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez, should talks with Atalanta stall beyond expectations.
