Activist Sowore released from Police custody after 48hrs

Human rights activist and 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been released from police custody two days after his detention at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Sowore was arrested on Wednesday after responding to an invitation from the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit.
His release was confirmed on Friday evening through a post on his official Facebook page.
Describing his detention as “illegal and unjust,” Sowore stated, “The Nigeria Police Force has capitulated to the demands of the revolutionary movement.”
“I have been released from unjust, illegal and unwarranted detention.”
“However, it is nothing to celebrate, but thank you for not giving up!”
His release followed protests by his supporters in at least five states, who had called for his immediate freedom.
