ABU Distance Learning: Courses, Fees, and How to Apply (2025 Guide)

The Ahmadu Bello University Distance Learning Centre (ABU DLC) has reiterated its commitment to providing flexible, high-quality education for Nigerians who cannot attend on-campus programmes.
Designed for working professionals and individuals with tight schedules, the ABU DLC offers undergraduate, master’s, and postgraduate diploma courses entirely online, with final examinations conducted physically at approved centres nationwide.

Master’s programmes range from Accounting and Business Administration to International Affairs and Diplomacy, Public Health, and Disaster Risk Management, while postgraduate diplomas are available in Education and Management.

Tuition & Fees
Undergraduate students pay ₦10,000 per course, while master’s students pay ₦20,000 per course. Additional compulsory fees include:
Acceptance Fee – ₦12,500
Miscellaneous Fee (freshers) – ₦8,500
Examination Fee – ₦20,000
Project Fee – N50,000

Admissions & Transfers
Applications for the 2024/2025 Batch B intake remain open until June 2025.
The process is fully online, with an application fee of ₦10,000.
Transfer students are accepted from both ABU on-campus programmes and other universities, continuing at their previous academic level.
Key Facts
JAMB is not required for undergraduate admission; only O’Level results are needed.
Programmes run three semesters per year, enabling a four-year degree to be completed in three years.
Certificates are identical to on-campus equivalents, with no “distance learning” indication.
NYSC participation is not available for DLC graduates, but exemption letters are issued.
Examination centres are located in Zaria (main campus), Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Gombe, newly established centers in Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Dutse and Abeokuta.
