Bariga LCDA renames streets to honour Olamide, Bukayo Saka, King Sunny Ade, Others

The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has renamed several major streets to honour prominent Nigerian celebrities and notable personalities who have brought pride to the community and Nigeria at large.
The outgoing chairman of Bariga LCDA, Kolade David, made the announcement on Friday in a statement shared on X by Jubril Gawat, the special assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on new media.
According to David, the decision aims to recognise those who have elevated the name of Bariga and contributed to the development of the state and the nation through their talents and achievements.
Among the honoured figures are legendary juju musician King Sunny Ade, rapper Olamide Adedeji popularly known as “Baddo,” singer Abolore Akande also known as 9ice, artist Tony Tetuila, and Nigerian-born Arsenal footballer Bukayo Saka.
Prominent political leaders including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu were also recognised.
“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft,” David said. “We are also honouring eminent personalities in our nation and beloved state who have contributed immensely to development.”
Here are the newly renamed streets:
Ilaje Road is now King Sunny Ade Road
Bariga Road is now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way
Community Road, Akoka is now Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road
Ajidagan Street is now Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street
Charly Boy Bus Stop is now Baddo Bus Stop
Ifeanyi Street is now Abolore Akande (9ice) Street
Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak is now Tony Tetuila Street
Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro is now Bukayo Saka Street

The council described the move as part of efforts to immortalise legacies and inspire future generations.
