Lauretta Onochie, former Special Assistant on Social Media to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that she held a private meeting with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in what appears to be a political strategy session aimed at national revival.

Onochie made the disclosure on Friday, July 25, 2025, via her X page, stating that the meeting occurred a day earlier.

According to her, the discussion was centered on strategies to “recover Nigeria from her captors” and to redirect the country onto a path of genuine progress.

“Yesterday, Big Brother and Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni RAUF AREGBESOLA, and yours truly had a meeting.”

“It was centered around recovering our nation from her captives,” she wrote. “God bless Nigeria.”

Aregbesola, who served as Minister of Interior under Buhari from 2019 to 2023, is increasingly being linked to growing opposition efforts against President Bola Tinubu.

Both men were once close allies from their days in the defunct Action Congress, but recent developments suggest widening political cracks.

The meeting between Aregbesola and Onochie, a staunch Buhari loyalist, is fueling speculations about a coordinated plan by former Buhari allies to challenge Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Onochie was controversially appointed by Buhari in the twilight of his administration as Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), a move that sparked debates over political patronage and regional balance.
