Eric Chelle names CHAN 2025 squad as Nigeria head to Zanzibar

Super Eagles B Head Coach, Eric Chelle, on Thursday unveiled the final 23-man squad for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to hold from August 2 to 30, 2025, across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Leading the squad is team captain Junior Harrison Nduka, alongside key players like defender Sikiru Alimi and striker Godwin Obaje. Goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena Ani and defender Sodiq Ismaila also made the list among others.
The squad, which had been in camp for several weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, departed Nigeria for Zanzibar on Thursday evening aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the team will enter the second phase of preparations in Zanzibar from July 25 to 31.
During that period, they will play two international friendlies against the Senior National Team of Zanzibar, scheduled for July 28 and 31.
Nigeria, bronze medallists in the 2014 edition and silver medallists in 2018, are drawn in Group D of the 19-nation tournament.
Their group opponents include defending champions Senegal, as well as Sudan and Congo.

The Super Eagles B will kick off their campaign against Senegal and Sudan at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar before facing Congo in their final group match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
