BREAKING: APC appoints Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as new National Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its new national chairman.
His appointment was confirmed on Thursday during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
The motion to appoint Yilwatda was moved by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abba Tajudeen.
In his acceptance remark, Prof. Yilwatda said, “My pledge, without hesitation, is that I will work with everybody in the party, I will unite the party, I will build the party, and I will expand the party.”
He was immediately sworn into office following the confirmation.
Professor Yilwatda takes over from Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who recently stepped down from the position due to health-related concerns.
Before his new role, Yilwatda served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. A former university lecturer, he is from Plateau State and was the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in the state during the 2023 general elections.
His emergence followed a consensus agreement reached during a closed-door meeting between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors on Wednesday night.
