Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, on Wednesday as a leader of the ADC coalition.

He was warmly received by a large crowd of supporters who braved the rain to welcome him back to the state under a new political banner.

Upon his arrival around noon, after supporters had gathered as early as 8 a.m., the former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was presented with the ADC’s official symbol, signifying his full membership.

Speaking to the cheering crowd at the airport, Amaechi declared his commitment to the party and reaffirmed that the ADC is now a permanent political force in Rivers State.

He expressed confidence in the party’s potential and emphasized that the days of election manipulation in the state must come to an end.

Amaechi lamented Rivers State’s reputation for electoral fraud but assured his supporters that such irregularities would not be tolerated in the upcoming 2027 polls.

More to come.
