President Bola Tinubu on Friday met behind closed doors with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The high-level meeting highlights the President’s ongoing consultations with state leaders and key political figures across the country.

Governor Eno, who currently leads the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom, was accompanied by Akpabio, a former governor of the state, along with two other prominent politicians from the region.

While details of the discussions were not immediately made public, the visit is believed to focus on enhancing collaboration between the Federal Government and Akwa Ibom State, alongside broader national issues.

Presidential Spokesman Declares Governor Umo Eno as APC Leader in Akwa Ibom

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the visit while stating that Governor Umo Eno is now the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.

Onanuga made the statement in a post on his official X account, writing: “Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday. Governor Eno is the APC leader in his state.”

Eno, who was elected governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reportedly joined the APC in recent weeks, marking a significant political shift in Akwa Ibom State’s history.
