Rap legend Snoop Dogg joins Swansea City as part owner

American rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially become a co-owner of English Championship football club Swansea City, forming an unexpected partnership between the entertainment and sports worlds.
The 53-year-old, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, joins Croatian football legend Luka Modric, recently signed to AC Milan and formerly of Real Madrid, as part of the club’s ownership group.
Snoop Dogg was featured last week wearing Swansea’s new 2025–26 home kit on social media, sparking speculation that has now been confirmed with Thursday’s announcement.
This investment follows the club’s acquisition in November by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen.
The new owners are aiming to boost Swansea’s commercial growth and financial capacity under profit and sustainability rules, with hopes of returning to the Premier League for the first time since their 2018 relegation.

Speaking on the club’s website, Snoop Dogg expressed enthusiasm about the venture: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.”
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”
Club officials believe Snoop Dogg’s massive online following, over 100 million fans, will help amplify Swansea’s global profile.
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City,” the club said in a statement.

They emphasized the rapper’s genuine interest in football and described his excitement as “clear throughout the process,” saying his involvement would support their ambition to field a highly competitive squad.
Swansea’s move mirrors the rise of fellow Welsh side Wrexham, who were propelled into the Championship after actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club in 2020, significantly raising its international profile.
