Nizamiye Hospital responds to stem cell saga, affirms ethical patient care

The management of Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja, has denied reports claiming it delayed a critical medical procedure due to incomplete payment, clarifying that no surgery was scheduled and the hospital does not provide stem cell therapy.
This statement responds to media claims alleging the hospital refused a life-saving intervention over payment issues.
Speaking through the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, it was explained that the only procedure performed was successfully completed, and no further surgery was planned during the patient’s stay.
“There was no surgery planned beyond the procedure already completed,” Mr. Abubakar said. “A recommendation was made for stem cell therapy, which we do not offer. Our role is limited to assisting families in contacting external providers when requested.”
The hospital clarified that stem cell treatments are managed by international specialists and are not conducted on-site.

Regarding claims of outstanding payments, the hospital rejected the allegations, stating there is no record of any partial payment or pending balance for stem cell-related treatment.
“There is no record of any $15,000 payment or outstanding balance related to stem cell treatment,” the statement said. “In fact, there are still funds remaining in the patient’s hospital account. We invite anyone with contrary proof to come forward.”
Nizamiye Hospital further stressed that no advance payments were required for any in-house procedures and reaffirmed its dedication to professional and ethical medical care.
