2027: Politicians proposing one-term need psychiatric evaluation – Gov Soludo fires shots

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has stated that any public officeholder pledging to serve only one term needs psychiatric evaluation.
Speaking during the Anambra South endorsement rally held in support of his second-term bid, Soludo described such promises as unrealistic and politically unserious.
He challenged proponents of the one-term idea to name any instance where it had ever been fulfilled.
According to the governor, the Nigerian Constitution clearly allows elected officials to serve two terms, and no one should pretend otherwise.
“The Constitution does not restrict anyone to just one term in office; it permits two terms.”
“So when someone says they will only serve one term, that person needs psychiatric examination,” Soludo said.

His comments appear to be a veiled criticism of former Governor Peter Obi, who recently stated he would seek only one term if elected president in 2027.
