Inter Milan snaps up Nigerian teen star Richi Agbonifo from Verona

Italian football giants Inter Milan have officially signed Nigerian youth international Richi Agbonifo from Hellas Verona on a permanent transfer.
The announcement was made on Friday, confirming the 19-year-old’s long-anticipated move.
Agbonifo, who joined Verona’s academy at the age of six, spent over a decade climbing the club’s youth ranks and has become one of the most promising attacking talents in Italian football.
His versatility across the front line, capable of playing as a winger, striker, second forward, or attacking midfielder, has earned him widespread attention from top clubs.
Known for his pace, ball control, and vision in the final third, Agbonifo has been likened to several of Serie A’s brightest young stars.
His technical quality and tactical maturity reportedly impressed Inter’s coaching staff during youth competitions.
While the exact fee remains undisclosed, sources confirm the move is a permanent transfer rather than a loan.
Hellas Verona also acknowledged the transfer in an official statement.
Agbonifo now joins a growing list of young talents at Inter Milan, as the club maintains its focus on youth development alongside first-team ambitions.
His signing is seen as a long-term investment, though it remains unclear whether he will begin with the senior squad or join the Primavera team under Inter’s structured development plan.
In addition, Inter Milan are in ongoing talks with Atalanta to sign another Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, as the club looks to deepen its attacking options ahead of the new Serie A season.
Lookman is reportedly open to the switch.
